NYC RESIDENCY PROGRAM APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Visual artists, photographers and curators from anywhere in the world, including the United States, can apply for the NYC residency program at Deli Grocery.

At this time our program accepts a direct application only.

These residencies are generally between three and twelve months and can be sponsored by governments, corporations, foundations, institutions, organizations, galleries and private patrons. Our residency fee provides each artist, photographer or curator with living accommodations, 24-hour access to a 900 sq ft studio which is shared between up to four artists total, free wireless internet and use of DG common areas.

Unlike typical residency programs contrived by institutional networks we offer a community of Native New Yorker’s and artists that supports and aids our residents in building their own networks in NYC organically.

Direct application

If you wish to apply please read the information below carefully:

·         Please email your application to info@deligrocerynewyork.com. DG does not locate sponsors for direct applicants.

·         Once accepted, artists, photographers and curators are responsible for securing funding.

·         When planning your residency, please bear in mind that residencies are scheduled approximately one year in advance. We are currently scheduling 2019-2020.

·         There is no deadline and the application review takes place regularly.

·         DG does not accept applications from artists or curators currently enrolled in school.

·         DG requires that artists and curators in residence are proficient in spoken and written English.

The following steps must be taken in the order below before an applicant can be accepted into DG's Residency Program:

·         Application is sent to DG.

·         DG Gallery’s panel reviews the application within two months.

·         If the application is successful, the applicant receives an acceptance letter.

·         Applicant has two years from the date of the acceptance letter to locate funding.

·         When funding has been secured by applicant, DG confirms directly with sponsor.

·         When sponsor has confirmed, DG staff and applicant schedule residency.

·         If necessary, applicant must apply for a US visa (see below).

·         Applicant makes appointment with DG staff and arrives in New York.

The fee for 2019 is $2,530.00 per month. The fee for 2020 is $2,677.00 per month.

Addendum for foreign applicants regarding visa application:

Once a contract has been signed between the sponsor and DG, residents should immediately begin the process of securing a visa to enter the United States. The U.S. State Department’s consular website can be checked to confirm visa eligibility and requirements: http://travel.state.gov/

DG recommends making contact immediately with the nearest United States Consulate or Embassy in the resident’s home country. Residents will generally enter the United States on a B1/B2 visa, which is issued for business/tourist purposes. DG will provide a letter in support of the visa application to incoming participants.
